The tall, narrow, bright-orange flare spiraling into the air on a well site is one of the most recognizable images associated with the Bakken oil and gas play. But, thanks to new technology options used to reduce, compress, transform or move associated gas created during the oil retrieval process, the hot-button issue of flaring in the Williston Basin could be starting to cool.
